About this concert
Punks and rudies assemble. This years Friday Night Curling Club show may be the best lineup of punk and ska weve ever assembled. Headlining the night is one of Canadas most beloved and longest running punk bands, Propagandhi. Originally forming in Winnipeg in the mid-80s, Propagandhi quickly made legions of fans with a trademark blend of pop-punk melodies and thrash metal fury. Never one to rest on their laurels, Propagandhis music has constantly evolved to become more complex, aggressive, and experimental across their acclaimed catalogue of LPs on legendary punk labels Fat Wreck Chords and Epitaph. On top of constantly challenging themselves musically, Propagandhis career has been underlined by an uncompromising commitment to social and political justice, staunchly supporting progressive causes and vehemently opposing global fascism. Their message is as important as ever, and were honoured to host them at our festival. They may have sang Ska Sucks 30 years ago, but we dont hold grudges! Maybe theyll even play it...Formed in 1995, Save Ferris remains one of the seminal and most beloved bands from the third wave of ska. The groups Orange County home was fertile ground for a thriving music scene, with innumerable legendary punk and ska artists emerging from the region. Alongside peers such as No Doubt, Sublime, and Reel Big Fish, Save Ferris blended a diverse array of musical genres to help bring the regions sound to the world. Anchored by the enigmatic frontwoman Monique Powell, Save Ferris is still going strong with a fresh lineup, new songs, and a renewed fervour for lighting up every stage they touch. Youll mosh, dance, and skank with a big smile on your face the entire time. You know we couldnt just book one legendary Canadian punk band, right? Formed in Montreal over 35 years ago, GrimSkunk have spearheaded the Quebecois punk scene through their genre-blending music, fierce political message, and unwavering commitment to uplifting rising acts. Playing more genres than we have time to list and singing in several different languages, expect a GrimSkunk show to take you on a global journey through punk, metal, hardcore, folk, ska. reggae, Latin music, and beyond. Ask your Quebecois friends about GrimSkunk and theyll quickly tell you about how momentous this performance will be. Rounding out the lineup is Punitive Damage. Sporting members from both BC and Washington State, the group is one of the most vicious punk acts to come out of the PNW in recent memory. Anchored by savagely screamed vocals, lightning-fast drumming, and blazing guitar playing, Punitive Damages no-bullshit brand of hardcore is impossible to ignore. Much like the evenings headliner, the group is not afraid to speak their mind, as their socially conscious lyrics attack systems of oppression, hate-fuelled violence, and inequity. As if this lineup wasnt packed enough, DJing between acts is local favourite Grossbuster. Previously a member of BC punk favourites One Drop and The Rebel Spell, Nate Cunnings is better known nowadays for his involvement as a producer and DJ in the hip-hop and electronic scenes. All Ages & Licensed for 19yrs+ w/ID. Kids 10 & under free with adult!

Save Ferris Biography

Formed in 1995, Save Ferris remains one of the seminal and most beloved bands from the third wave of ska. The group’s Orange County home was fertile ground for a thriving music scene, with punk, rock, and ska emerging from the region. Save Ferris blended the best elements of these sounds and their humble beginnings saw them play house parties and local venues, powered by Monique Powell’s high-octane vocals.

When KROQ DJ Rodney Bingenheimer played their cover of Dexy's Midnight Runners “Come on Eileen” on his show, the response was overwhelming and was added to the taste-making station’s playlist. All of this happened independently without a record label and with Powell serving as the singer and band manager.

Save Ferris signed with Epic Records in 1997, unleashing their debut album, It Means Everything, and touring the world for the next six years. In 2003, SF went on hiatus until Powell, with a new cast of characters, reformed SF in 2013, coming home to Orange County and a sold-out show at the Pacific Amphitheater in Costa Mesa. Another raucous show at the Santa Monica Pier drew over 20,000 people, proving that the band wasn’t just back, but ready to roar.

Powell is the centerpiece of the action. Her dazzling on-stage presence continues to wow audiences and the band’s energy is infectious. After spending 2023 touring and delighting fans, she is currently at work on new Save Ferris music for release in 2024. Save Ferris are out to prove their best days are still ahead of them.
