Redfreya Biography
A rising talent in the London Deep House / Melodic scene, Redfreya is drawn to melodic, percussive and hypnotic tracks, weaving deep groove lines with emotive vocals, and always seeking to curate an emotional arc in her sets. She is a core resident of London's leading melodic music promoter, Parable.
Redfreya made her debut abroad in summer '22, headlining for Club Culture Portugal, alongside Rick Offen and Rui Trintaeum, and kicking off January '23 with her first international show of the year in Belgium. Having already shared the bill with some top-tier talent, including Trikk, Frankey & Sandrino, Mano Le Tough, Âme, Henrik Schwarz, Lee Burridge, Jan Blomqvist, Roy Rosenfeld, Township Rebellion, Saint Vie, Dominik Eulberg, Rodriguez Jr and more, and with shows alongside Fideles, Henri Bergman, EMJIE, Mira and Rampue in early 2023, Redfreya is already making her mark as a DJ and selector.
Drawing on records from a wide range of genres spanning deep/melodic/afro house, indie dance, groovy tech house, rominimal, dub techno, melodic/progressive techno as well as classic house and nu disco on occasion, Redfreya is beginning to carve out a signature sound at this early stage in her career, which could be described as emotive, percussive and intentional/melancholic - providing thought provoking and reflective DJ sets rich in ambience and emotional tension. She is heavily influenced by labels such as; Kompakt, Mobilee, Get Physical, ISOLATE, Maeve, Poker Flat, Best Works Records, Sum Over Histories, Innervisions, Crosstown Rebels, Bar25, Rotary Cocktail, Siamese, TAU, Atomnation, PlanoB, Multinotes, Life And Death, Stil Vor Talent, Connaisseur, LNOE, Acrylic On Canvas, Secret Fusion and more.
Invited by London's leading underground deep house radio station, Bloop London, to hold down the first ever weekly radio residency here, Redfreya has already graced the decks at most venues in the UK's capital, including E1, fabric, The Egg, Studio9294, The Steelyard, ColourFactory, Night Tales, as well as holding down residencies at the prestigious BEAT CLUB and the Arts Club Dover Street.
A lifelong music lover, Redfreya began her musical training with a solid grounding in classical music as a flautist, singer and pianist, and was initially inspired by minimalist composers such as Philip Glass, Nils Frahm, Yann Tiersen and The Cinematic Orchestra. When she discovered electronic music, this progressed to a broad-spectrum love of all melodic, deep and grooving genres of house and techno - "I don't discriminate by genre but to me, music has to be emotional, danceable and beautiful". She is currently studying music production, and hopes to be ready to release her own produced music in 2023.
