Chariots & Charioteers Biography

Chariots & Charioteers play an eclectic and organic take on indie-pop that is influenced by soul, jazz, and modern folk. The Denver-based quartet uses a quick-changing roster of instruments to write songs that make processing unusual emotions fun. Imagine if Regina Spektor and Lake Street Dive met in a Dave Matthews Band tribute band, and you've got something like it.

The band’s blend of styles is informed by the members’ rich and varied backgrounds, from musical theatre to professional film scoring to jazz and classical college training. You’ll hear instruments like melodica carrying a surprising weight, and a defiance of simple chord strumming with inventive instrumental melodies that perk up the ears. Lyrically, Chariots & Charioteers’ songs illuminate the cracks and crevices of 21st century life - the unexpected moments and feelings we all find hard to put into words, like un-numbing from your phone, thinking you’re hard to love, or finding yourself at home for the first time. You’ll be able to relate to songs about healing from a toxic relationship, awe at the natural world, and your relatives’ internalized sexism, all with a healthy dose of hope, wit, and persistent joy.

Chariots & Charioteers’ debut EP, "Apparently Spring," was released in May 2023 and showcases the variety of colors in their sound The project's six songs were recorded, mixed, and mastered through a combination of the band's home studio, Brian Hunter of Swallow Hill Music, and Boulder’s Coupe Studios. The band is looking forward to releasing several singles in 2025.
