Forests Biography
Since forming in mid-2014, Forests have gained a global cult following of listeners through their unique blend of 90s-influenced emo with math-pop perfection. The 2019 release of their sophomore album Spending Eternity In A Japanese Convenience Store found the band gaining critical praise and gaining a huge increase in North America listenership as a result of being featured on Bandcamp’s editorial pages. Forests were the only band from Asia featured on Vulture.com’s list of 100 Greatest Emo Songs of All Time amongst legendary genre stalwarts such as American Football, Jawbreaker, and Sunny Day Real Estate. The band’s material has been featured and reviewed on many international Podcasts, including Matt Hoppus’ (Blink 182) After School Radio station, at the request of The Get Up Kids’ Matt Pryor.
The release of their 3rd full-length Get In Losers, We're Going To Eternal Damnation in 2022 garnered much acclaim from both fans and critics alike, with Stereogum declaring it “one of the most instantly enjoyable albums” and NME saluting the band for having “arrived at the epitome of their sound."
Forests’ reputation for riotous, frantic, and fun live performances has led the band from performing in intimate club shows in Singapore to legendary venues in cities across the Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, and Malaysia. With The Ringer declaring Forests “the best Asian emo band to catch the attention of the Western hemisphere”, it is fitting that 2023 finds the band embarking on an exciting new musical adventure with their first-ever tour of the United States of America in April.
