Hayley and the Crushers Biography

Bright blasts of sugary punk straight from the Crusherverse—Hayley and the Crushers are a turbo-charged, glitter-bombed tsunami of bold, bad girl power. Originally from San Luis Obispo, CA, the band made the leap to Detroit in 2022, infusing their sound with a dual-coast vibrancy.

Led by guitarist Hayley Cain and bassist Dr. Cain Esq., the band caught the adoring gaze of New Wave icon Josie Cotton in 2021, who hailed them as "the naked embodiment of power pop punk." That year, the band signed with Cotton's LA-based label, Kitten Robot Records, and released melodic punk album Modern Adult Kicks in 2022.

Produced by Paul Roessler, founding member of LA punk band The Screamers (with producer credits like TSOL, Josie Cotton, and Richie Ramone), Kicks showcased the Crushers' knack for playing "halfsies between grit and glitz," where "60s girl group sensibilities meet grinding rock 'n' roll heat" (Spill Magazine).

In 2024, these retro-futuristic renegades returned with EP Unsubscribe from the Underground, which highlight the band's sticky, shimmering melodies and ever-present quirkiness: “Like a Sour Patch Kid; unapologetically bright and fun with a hint of mischief.” (Bust Magazine).

Hayley's pop-punk flair veers from 80s radio-ready daydreams to relentless ferocity, always delivered with a clever wink. It’s Fresh. It’s cheeky. It’s bedazzled ear-candy out to crush the space-time continuum.
