Sam Vano Biography
When it gets late and the city buzz fades out, you’ll often find Sam Vano in his bedroom, writing. His process is one of introspection, crafting songs containing a kind of honesty that feels rare these days.
Vano’s debut EP, solitaire (2023), released under I Love My Label/Excelsior, was a fitting introduction to his guitar-driven indie-folk. The release was marked by a sold-out show in his hometown of Amsterdam, and it wasn’t long before Sam was on the road, opening for acts like Tim Knol, the Dawn Brothers, and Victoria Canal, leaving audiences in the Netherlands, England and France with watery eyes. The 26-year old found a receptive audience in England, where he returned for shows, including a special evening at St. Pancras Old Church.
After getting home and settling back into his trusty bedroom, the seeds for his next record began to take root. Though mostly written in a state of disorientation and solitude, it was recorded in a humble 1-room studio with friends, allowing the material to grow from whispery melancholic demo’s to lively, compelling songs. Sam Vano’s debut album is set for release in early 2025 and promises to be an even deeper dive into his world.
