Maya Ongaku
Afkomstig uit de kustgemeenschappen rond Enoshima, een klein eiland ten zuidwesten van Tokio, is Maya Ongaku een bont collectief van lokale muzikanten. De band begon in Ace General Store, een vintagewinkel waar ze naast het samenstellen van de vinylcollecties ook jamsessies organiseerden. In de bijbehorende studio werd hun geluid gevormd: een mix van psychedelica en folk. In 2023 brachten ze hun debuutalbum 'Approach to Anima' uit waarop die mix van genres volledig tot uiting komt.
Khana Bierbood
Khana Bierbood werd in 2012 opgericht in de strandwijk Bangsaen in Thailand door universiteitsvrienden die een voorliefde delen voor westerse psychedelische muziek uit de jaren zestig en zeventig. Tijdens hun schrijfporces ontdekten ze al snel de gelijkenissen tussen hun eigen geluid en Thaise muziekstijlen zoals Funk, Luk Tung en Molam. Door deze geluiden samen te brengen weet Bierbood een hedendaags Thais popgeluid te creëren.

Khana Bierbood Biography
The music of Khana Bierbood is equal parts revival and
revelation. The band was formed around 2012
in Thailand’s beach side sub district Bangsaen
by university friends who shared a love for
the western psychedelic music of the 60’s-70’s.
As they began writing songs they found a likeness
in their sound and the Thai Funk, Luk Tung, and
Molam music styles of those eras.
An influence that the band says comes from their
simplistic reduction of generational stories and
cultural experiences which envelope a hidden underlying wit.
A kind of Thai pop sensibility that lays the foundation for
a truly kaleidoscopic frenzy of authentic fuzz and
far east frequencies.
