The Erly is the best band to come out of Michiana, period. These guys are absolutely fantastic. Their sound is bluesy and funky, and their classic rock influences are clearly evident. Colin, lead singer/bassist, is like a strange mixture of Ryan Tedder, Tina Weymouth, and a sober version of Flee. He digs into every performance, and always gives his all. Trevor, lead guitar, is the scholar of the band, and he's obviously schooled himself in Clapton, Frampton and Brian May. Alyssa at the keyboards is the Jillian Gilbert of The Erly, except on top of her dancing fingers, she has a knockout voice that leaves the crowd cheering every time. Last but not least, Fran is the percussion soul of this band, coaxing those skins and driving the beat relentlessly like Stephen Morris. Be it an original song or a cover like Burning Down the House, these guys always bring down the house. You have to check them out while you can because they are going to go far!

The Erly Biography

The Erly is Collin Mattiford (bass), Trevor McDonald (guitars), and Fran Gleason (drums).

The Erly’s first studio effort, Shadows, was recorded in just under three days at Dirty White Couch Studios in Niles, Mi. Produced by Nashville legend Trey Gray and South Bend native Neil Carmichael, SHADOWS brought together the group’s various musical influences and writing styles. After the release of SHADOWS in late 2018, The Erly gigged extensively and built up an on-stage reputation of supplying a tight rhythm section, engaging solos, and 3-part harmonies. On the cusp of being a jam band, the group created a live experience of elongated musical interludes, powerful solos, and entirely different versions of their own songs.

In March 2020, the Erly teamed up with producer Paul Bennett to record their second album. Drawing from their 1970s music tastes and record collections, The Erly decided to pursue a sound different from their previous effort. This created songs with dancing rhythm sections, layers of keyboards and percussion, and four part vocal harmonies. Plucking inspiration from the likes of Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Steely Dan, and countless others, The Erly set out to create a modern fusion of breezy soft rock and funk/soul.

Released on November 19th, 2021, "Reckless" focuses mainly on the topics of modern love, heartache, and the means we all use to suppress or overcome our troubles.

Their third album, Culture Fever, was released on November 3rd, 2023.
