Bushbaby Biography
Since emerging in 2015, Brighton-based DJ and producer Bushbaby has become a driving force in the speed garage and house scene. Known for his innovative productions and high-energy sets, he has earned widespread recognition and support from some of the industry’s biggest names. As a key member of Southpoint, Brighton’s influential label and collective, he has played a crucial role in shaping both his own sound and the wider underground movement.
Bushbaby’s 'Roll To The Rhythm' EP, released via Time Is Now at the end of 2024, received major backing, with tracks like 'Groundsman' championed by Interplanetary Criminal during his Warehouse Project set. The track also gained support from Chris Stussy, Ben UFO, and Joy Orbison. Another standout from the EP, 'Shine Together', has been heavily supported by Sarah Story on BBC Radio 1.
Alongside this, his 'Locked On' EP on Southpoint, featuring 'Locked On', 'Ghettoblaster', 'Rock Upon The Mic', and 'Untitled Emo Organ Banger', became a festival staple throughout 2024. The project was backed by some of the most respected DJs and tastemakers in the scene, including NOTION, MALUGI, Y U QT, DJ Q, Ben UFO, Diffrent, Flava D, Hamdi, Interplanetary Criminal, Main Phase, Oppidan, Dr Dubplate, Sammy Virji (who dropped 'Ghettoblaster' on Parklife’s main stage alongside Interplanetary Criminal), Conducta, DJ Seinfeld, bullet tooth, Prozak, Lu.Re, Soul Mass Transit System, and Jeremiah Asiamah, with the latter giving it seven consecutive weeks of prime-time rotation on BBC Radio 1’s Soundsystem Party show. Notably, Sammy Virji went on Pete Tong's BBC Radio 1 show and singled out Bushbaby’s 'Untitled Emo Organ Banger' as a standout tune, calling it a "timeless classic" and a "staple in his sets."
In early 2025, Bushbaby’s 'Shake and Slide' went viral across TikTok and Instagram, generating hundreds of thousands of views and inspiring a wave of user-generated content, particularly in the car community. The track’s momentum led to a high-demand SoundCloud premiere and sharp growth across all platforms, cementing its status as one of his most impactful moments to date. With strong organic buzz and growing fan support, 'Shake and Slide' marks a major stepping stone in the run-up to his debut mixtape.
Beyond his releases, 2024 saw Bushbaby make waves in the editorial space, landing the cover of Amazon Music’s UKG Now playlist, as well as SoundCloud’s Belters and STEP playlists. He was also the face of Spotify’s Bassline Bangers editorial playlist. On the radio front, he took over BBC Radio 1Xtra with Sian Anderson before delivering a Main Room Mix for Tiffany Calver, further cementing his status as a tastemaker in the scene.
On the live circuit, Bushbaby toured Australia and New Zealand three times in 2024, culminating in his January 2025 tour alongside Zero and MPH, a significant step up in his touring career. March 2025 marks another milestone as he makes his USA debut, supporting Hamdi’s headline show at the prestigious Cermak Hall in Chicago, followed by his debut performance at Elsewhere in New York City the next day.
Looking ahead, 2025 is shaping up to be his biggest year yet. His 'Take No Chat' EP on Luude’s label No Instruction dropped in March, featuring 'Time Of Our Lives', which received ongoing rotation on BBC Radio 1’s Rave Up show. The EP closes with 'OMG' featuring Redders, Tom Santa, and Isgwan. To support the release, SoundCloud rolled out a promotional campaign including a billboard placement in Shoreditch, underlining the momentum behind Bushbaby’s growing profile.
All of this leads toward his debut mixtape, 'EVERY TIME', named after his signature vocal tag, set for release in early September.
Bushbaby’s music continues to resonate with top-tier artists, earning support from Interplanetary Criminal, Soul Mass Transit System, Main Phase, and Dr Dubplate. His bootleg of Benga and Coki’s 'Night', released on the prestigious garage label ec2a, sold out over 100 copies in under five minutes and was championed by Disclosure, Gorgon City, and Four Tet.
With a packed release schedule, a major debut mixtape, and extensive touring, Bushbaby is set to make 2025 his most defining year yet.
