About this concert
Not many bands can claim the living DNA of their chief influences within their sound but Held By Trees are one. Debut album, Solace features contributions from eight Talk Talk/Mark Hollis alumni, as well as veterans of Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, Blur and blues/roots icon, Eric Bibb. Wide critical acclaim followed, and support from Guy Garvey and Stuart Maconie on BBC 6 Music and play on Radio 3. Released in April 2022, Solace charted on the official indie chart (number 4) and physical sales chart (number 23), thanks to press and media support for the fledgling project. Held By Trees? live iteration features guitar legend Robbie McIntosh (McCartney, The Pretenders, John Mayer, Talk Talk), Laurence Pendrous on keyboards (Mark Hollis, Anja Garbarek), Paul Beavis on drums (The Waterboys, Andy Fairweather-Low and the Low Riders, Bill Wyman), Andy Panayi on flute, clarinet and sax (Ronnie Scott, McCartney, Hollis). Held By Trees made its live debut in October 2022 and have played in respected venues across the UK, drawing enthusiastic audiences ready to hear exciting variation and improvisation in the performances. This line-up found themselves at Peter Gabriel?s Real World Studios in late 2022 recording two new EPs, one of live tracks from Solace and one of new music called Eventide, released in the summer of 2023. 2024 saw Held By Trees? first collaboration with a vocalist; Martin Smith. Lay Your Troubles Down, a near 13-minute epic, was released on 21st June, with two more songs presented as an EP, Held By Trees & Martin Smith in the Autumn, followed by a short tour, including some dates with Martin guesting with the band. Held By Trees is gearing up to release a second full album, Hinterland, in 2025. The new album features musicians from Supergrass, Slowdive, Swans, Band of Susans, Primal Scream, Wire, and My Bloody Valentine as well as the returning Talk Talk/Hollis alumni and Mark Hollis? son, Charlie. The band are excited to play in new places and continue to make new music

Trees Biography

There are Seven Trees:

1) Trees were an English folk rock band that existed between 1969 and 1972. Although they met with little commercial success in their time, the reputation of the band has grown over the years. Like other similar bands at the time, their music were influenced by Fairport Convention, though with a heavier and more psychedelic edge. The group's material was divided between adaptions of traditional songs and original compositions.

2) Trees are a noir dreampop, shoegaze band from Naples Italy. Trees formed in 1993 and one year later released a now difficult to find Trees demo tape. In 1997 Trees sign on to a two album deal with Italian label Energeia. Their debut self titled album was released in 1997, and Harmonizer followed two years later (released in America by Losing Today). National touring followed their album releases. Eventually Trees went missing for much of new millennium, and reappeared in 2007 for their 10th Anniversary box set released by Ark Records titled, Walking Trees. This new 3 disc collection included reissues of their first two albums and a third new album Titled Ash. Following their newest release Trees went into hiding again, with little to no live shows planned, it is unsure what their true status is post-Ash.

3) Trees is also a noise band, declaring to do "happy noise".

4) False group name for San Diego singer/songwriter/synthesist Dane Conover, who released a new wave/synth rock album entitled Sleep Convention for MCA under the Trees moniker in 1982. Received some renown via the singles "Come Back" and "Shock Of The New," whose low-budget videos received some airplay on the nascent MTV.

5) A recently formed progressive rock band from Notheastern Connecticut with a rapidly rising fanbase. Playing at bars across New England, Trees has quickly arranged a demo featuring the very catchy single "SMILE With Style".

6) A Doom metal band from Chester, New Hampshire. Their sound is very similar to that of Khanate

7) A recently formed experimental jazz/reggae band from Warrenton, VA. Former members of Pipe Dream, and Alex Gable (solo artist).
