About this concert
The Sensational Soul Cruisers are more than just an 11-man vocal harmony group with horns. While bands with similar lineups exist, few perform with the energy, passion, and talent of these guys. From their humble beginnings rehearsing in Freehold Borough's chicken coops on Route 33 and the basement of the Cycle Shop on Throckmorton Street, the band has evolved from its "Eddie and the Cruisers" days to become one of New Jersey’s best-kept secrets.
Under the guidance of legendary Jersey Shore sax player Screamin’ Steve Barlotta, who has led the band for over 30 years, the Sensational Soul Cruisers have risen from a dingy basement to performing over 200 shows a year. They capture the essence of the Jersey Shore sound and its true R&B roots. For fans of classic Philly Soul, Motown, Disco, Stax, and the music of The Temptations, Four Tops, Earth Wind & Fire, Chicago, and The Trammps, the Sensational Soul Cruisers deliver some of the best music ever recorded or played live. This year, they will be performing up and down the East Coast, bringing their sound to theaters, clubs, public festivals, and private events nationwide.
Over the past three decades, the Soul Cruisers have shared the stage with legends like Bruce Springsteen, Little Anthony and The Imperials, Gloria Gaynor, Gary US Bonds, John Cafferty, Southside Johnny, The Emotions, Bon Jovi, Smokey Robinson, and Stevie Wonder. They have also been the longtime favorite house band at New York City’s famed Copacabana.
