Sam Allen Biography
Based out of New York's Hudson Valley Region, Sam Allen has held a passion for music from a very young age. At 7, he took up the drum set and rapidly excelled at complex rudiments on the snare drum, soon applying these techniques to the rest of the kit. At age 12, guitar became his next obsession and he has been a guitarist in various bands ever since. Throughout his teen years, he delved deeply into Hip Hop, Rap and other electronic styles of music, creating hundreds of hip hop and avant-garde instrumentals as well as honing his skill as a lyricist and rapper; all the while gaining renown and rank in his schools' jazz and concert bands as well as percussion and keyboard ensembles. These efforts have consistently awarded him admiration from a diverse multitude of music lovers of various communities and backgrounds.
Coming out of high school, he toured 7 countries in Europe as Timpanist of a national wind ensemble; All of this before attending SUNY Purchase and graduating with honors; receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Music with a concentration in Studio Production. Upon returning to his hometown, he and a few friends opened a recording studio, endearingly named Off The Block Recording, that they built from scratch following the direction of his knowledge of acoustics and sound waves. In this professional setting, he delivered a quality product and experience that has kept his phone ringing even years after the studio's closing, with past clients constantly wanting to continue working with him. He continued to operate and expand the studio for 3 years until finally deciding to focus his efforts on writing original music and performing live.
Most recently, his latest endeavors have given Sam the opportunity to develop his talents as a bassist, vocalist and keyboard player. He has also made a plethora of radio appearances as well as toured all over the United States on multiple occasions and has performed at festivals with the likes of Gregg Allman, The Jerry Garcia Band and Consider The Source. With hundreds of cover songs and a growing number of original works under his belt, he has embarked on a solo career in which he can perform in front of an audience for hours with nothing more than an acoustic guitar and a microphone. Having logged in thousands of hours of live gigging as well as studio session work, Sam Allen makes for a seasoned, well-rounded multi-instrumentalist musician, studio engineer and craftsman.
