Toploader Biography
Toploader were an indie band from Eastbourne, Sussex, United Kingdom, formed in 1997. They are best known for their cover of King Harvest's Dancing in the Moonlight, a remix of which reached the Top Ten in the British singles chart.
In 2000 Toploader were one of the most popular acts in British alternative music, but their popularity declined swiftly as bands such as Coldplay and Muse began to lead the changing twenty-first century music scene. They split up in 2003, by which time they were very much out of the public eye.
The band had good album success with both albums hitting the top 5, but poor single sales, especially of those from Magic Hotel led to the band being dropped by their music label. Onka's Big Moka produced the hits Dancing In The Moonlight, Just Hold On, and Achilles Heel.
Joseph Washbourn also wrote and performed the track Goldrush for the 2005 film The Skeleton Key (Universal Pictures).
