South City Revival Biography

SHORT:

South City Revival is a workingman’s band from Chicago, IL. Forged in the city of frigid winters and ferocious wind, the band continues to expand on their vision of Midwest Americana with, "Where There's Smoke, There's Fire". The new album, the band's first full-length effort, is at its core an exploration of country and roots-rock music. Drawing on the energy and story-telling from the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Brooks & Dunn, Tom Petty, and Steve Earle, listeners are immersed in a landscape filled with abandoned steel mills, sticky bar floors and rusted out Chevys.

EXTENDED:

Produced and recorded by fellow Chicagoan Mike Hagler (Wilco, Waco Brothers, OK Go) at Kingsize Soundlabs, "Smoke [‘WTS, TF’] is largely introspective”, says co-writer and guitarist John Quinn. "A lot of my writing is experiential. You write what you know, ya know?" Singer and fellow writer Joe Pacelli agrees, "Yeah, I tend to tap into past experiences” and jokes “Some of my songs might go a little further back down memory lane than Quinner's though. We're just excited to hit the road in support of the new record.”

SCR got their start playing in the bars on Chicago's south side. Six years, an EP, and a full length album later and you can find the band regularly supporting country music giants such as Lee Brice, Riley Green, Parker McCollum, and A Thousand Horses at Joe's on Weed Street (4 Time Winner of the Academy of Country Music Award for Nightclub of The Year) and sister venue Joe's Live Rosemont. While they continue to gain attention for their original compositions, anyone who's seen a South City Revival show will tell you the live performance is their bread and butter, as was reflected in their 2021 Chicago Music Award for Country/Western Performer of the Year.

In 2016, fate brought the guys together on a snowy Chicago night in a Western Avenue bar. The meeting was electric and it did't take long for Joe Pacelli (lead vocals), John Quinn (guitar), Brendan Linnane (pedal steel/guitar), Pino Perez (drummer), and Mike Fitzgerald (bass) to realize they'd be playing together for years to come.
