Sketches

Happy Birthday Jazzlive! For this very special occasion we have invited our long time collaborator and saxophonist Arnaud Guichard to present his new band "Sketches". This band brings together musicians of different horizons from hip-hop, jazz, pop, electronics, rock, indie, afro beat. They play a mixture of totally improvised music with fragments of written, melodic, harmonic or rhythmic ideas which they develop live. Every Sketch is unique even if the musical fragment stays the same the band aims to bend it in every possible way to create a unique experience. Arnaud is one of the finest saxophonists of his generation, an outstanding improviser and composer with his own sound. Arnaud worked with us for many years leading our monthly jam sessions, which gained a reputation for the quality of the musicians it attracted. Many of those musicians are now well known names on the jazz circuit. The name "Sketches" comes from the title of the jam sessions that Arnaud led, which was in turn inspired by the amazing drawings of Hamley Jenkins who remains our artist in residence at The Crypt. The musicians in this band are the best of their generation, all have established themselves as crucial participants in the jazz world today.
