About this concert
The Murder Capital announce their first ever Australian shows!
The band have also just released their first single of 2024: ‘Can’t Pretend To Know'.
Built on a razor sharp riff and an anthem-in-waiting. It synthesizes all that makes the Murder Capital such a distinctive and captivating band. The track was recorded in Los Angeles earlier this year with producer John Congelton (St Vincent, Angel Olsen, Sharon Van Etten) in an intense and fast paced session that prioritized urgency, energy and freshness. It’s a track that points to the new era of The Murder Capital, carrying a new focus and clarity.
Along with the single the band have announced a short UK tour and they’ll be supporting Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds in Europe!
2023 was a breakthrough year for The Murder Capital. The release of their second album ‘Gigi’s Recovery’ saw widespread acclaim, and went to Number 1 in Ireland and broke the Top 20 in the UK album charts. The band embarked on their biggest tour of the US, and performed at many festivals around the world including defining sets at Coachella, Glastonbury and Rock En Seine. Their ‘Clown’s Reflection Tour’ in the autumn was a huge success and culminated in a sold-out headline show at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre. More recently the group supported Pearl Jam in the UK and Europe as they played some of the biggest stages of their career to date.

The Murder Capital Biography
Dublin-based post-punk group the Murder Capital explore the darker side of society utilizing rumbling dread and the cathartic elements of post-punk as their tools.
Despite each member originating from locales across Ireland, the five met while studying at BIMM Music college in Dublin and formed a band comprising vocalist James McGovern and Damien Tuit (guitar), Diarmuid Brennan (drums), Cathal Roper (guitar), and Gabriel Paschal Blake (bass). They released their debut single "More or Less" in 2018 as a music video, which unexpectedly blew up online. With the hype swelling around them, they quickly began work on a debut album, 2019's When I Have Fears. Produced by Mark Ellis (aka Flood) the album centers around the loss of a friend to suicide. When sitting down to write a follow-up, the band knew they had to evolve. An early iteration of the record emerged after an eight-month period, but the results were deemed too depressing. They decamped to London for another six months, resulting in Gigi's Recovery in 2022, which managed to explore a broader range of emotions. ~ Liam Martin, Rovi
