There’s two names on the gums of Newcastle’s discerning and intrepid music scene.......“Where’s Jimmy?” and “CATPISS”These two raucous must-see acts have been wasting stages and rattling cages in the Steel City since the end of Covid lockdowns.When Newy’s venues finally re-opened, the levee broke and Where’s Jimmy? and CATPISS rode the lip of an almighty wave of new acts.Sharing a thirst for no-frills, no-bullshit punk-edged rock, it just seemed too obvious – nay, pre-ordained – that these two bands should take their livewire shows on tour as double-headliners.Where's Jimmy?Cut from the same cloth as AC/DC and Midnight Oil, Where’s Jimmy have since armed themselves with songs like Powerstance, an undeniably catchy and playful call-and-response anthem. Then there’s the six-minute Summer Street, named after Orange’s main drag, a bold rock statement on outgrowing your hometown. Flash forward three years and the band have just released their debut five-track EP, recorded with Central Coast-based producer Jack Nigro. The four-piece has already played far and wide, their music energetically embraced by audiences in Katoomba, Bellingen and Sydney; and notably supporting the likes of Frenzel Rhomb and Civic. It undeniable the Jimmy’s know how to gee-up a crowd.CATPISSCATPISS made from sustainably sourced ingredients imported from the city, coast, country and afar.
