About this concert

The Callicoon Theater is breaking in our brand new stage with a celebration of LIVE Rock and CLASSIC Cult Movies! A LIVE Performance by local garage rock duo Basic Bitches, followed by a screening of the classic cult film, “This is Spinal Tap!" Local band Basic Bitches spent the early days of COVID stuck in their Barryville home watching movies. With a lack of live gigs to play, they challenged themselves to write one new song a week. For inspiration, they found a 2003 back issue of Entertainment Weekly, which included a list of the top 10 cult movies of all time. The list was weird (and arguably wrong), but over ten weeks, classic films like "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," "Blade Runner," and "Harold and Maude" were transformed into songs. The result was Basic Bitches 2021 album release, “Go to the Movies." This live music/cult film double feature will start at 8pm, with Basic Bitches performing all 10 tracks off their new album. The performance will be accompanied by projection visuals and some cheeky special effects. After the performance (and following a few retro intermission cartoons), we will screen the classic cult film “This is Spinal Tap” in all its original glory. The brand new stage at The Callicoon Theater is the perfect venue to bring this new record to life. Please join us for a night of fun, laughter, and great music.
