About this concert
Called the "great American romantic" by the New York Times, Edwin McCain has built an enviable career over the past 20 years by balancing his massive pop success with the year-round touring schedule of a tireless troubadour. His hit songs, authentic spirit and surprisingly affable sense of humor keep fans coming back time and time again for nights that feel more like parties with old friends than rock concerts. After recording two of the biggest love songs in the history of pop music, McCain now performs upwards of 100 shows annually throughout the US as a solo artist, with his full band or his acoustic trio. Recently, he's added orchestras to his repertoire, performing with symphonies in select markets where he brings his powerful songs to majestic new heights. Those enduring love songs (and wedding must-haves) "I'll Be" and "I Could Not Ask For More" aren't just for the romantic at heart; "American Idol" and "The Voice" contestants turn to Edwin's ballads every single year to help them win over judges and fans alike (just ask last season's AI winner, Nick Fradiani). Even Justin Bieber has been known to belt out "I'll Be" during his own concerts. Earlier this year, McCain suddenly found himself with a whole new crop of fans when his "Flipping Ships" television show debuted on Animal Planet and became one of the highest rated new programs for the network. During the season, Edwin happily juggled his two jobs, filming the show by day and headlining concerts at night. The 15-year-old me would have crawled through a river of fire to be the 41-year-old singer/songwriter that I am today, and I remember that," he says. "I am incredibly grateful to be able to do this.

Edwin put in a terrific, full band show at a pretty intimate venue. Bonus for a local opening band who was pretty good as well! Loved that Edwin did “Shooting Stars” which is one of my favorites in addition to the more well-known hits. I’m seeing Edwin 3 times this year and highly encourage you to check him out if he’s coming to a venue near you!

Edwin McCain Biography

Edwin McCain (born January 20, 1970 in Greenville, South Carolina) is an alternative and indie rock guitar player. While his albums are released under his name, he does have a permanent band, referred to as the Edwin McCain Band. Members of the band as of 2007 include Larry Chaney, lead guitar; Pete Riley, rhythm guitar and background vocals; Craig Shields, saxophone and keyboards; Manny Yames, bass guitar; and Peter Alexander, drums.

After signing a contract with the Atlantic Records label Lava Records in 1994, his first major-label album, Honor Among Thieves, was issued in 1995. His second album, Misguided Roses, spawned I'll Be, a major single in 1998. Two more albums (Messenger and Far From Over) followed, but at the end of 2001, he split from Lava. In 2003 he released a collection of acoustic versions of songs both old and new called The Austin Sessions via ATC Records, a Nashville-based independent record label (at which McCain was the first artist signed following its creation in 2001). Mid-2004 saw the arrival of his first studio album in three years, entitled Scream & Whisper, which was released on another indie label, DRT Entertainment.

He has released two DVDs to date. The first was through ATC records in late 2002, called Mile Marker: Songs and Stories from the Acoustic Highway, and it consisted of interviews, live performances, and other material. The other was in late 2004, Tinsel & Tap Shoes. It was his first live concert DVD, recorded at The House of Blues in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

A new CD was released in April, 2006 titled, Lost in America. Edwin recently signed a contract with Vanguard Records. This album (#8) is said to be a true "rock 'n roll" collection.
