Lukas Vondracek Biography
Since his debut at the age of 14 with the Czech Philharmonic, Lukas has appeared as the guest soloist with many of the world's renowned orchestras including the BBC Philharmonic, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Gulbenkian Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic, Hong Kong Philharmonic, London Philharmonic, NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, the NHK Symphony, Orchestre National de Belgique, Orquestra Sinfônica do Estado de São Paulo, Orquesta Sinfónica de Euskadi, St.Petersburg Philharmonic, the Philharmonia, National Taiwan Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Sydney Symphony, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, Wiener Symphoniker, Warsaw National Philharmonic as well as Baltimore, Cincinnati, Dallas and the National Symphony orchestras in the United States. He has worked with conductors such as Marin Alsop, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Jiri Belohlavek, Christoph Eschenbach, Manfred Honeck, Pietari Inkinen, Paavo Järvi, Theodore Kuchar, Zdenek Macal, Peter Oundjian, Vasily Petrenko, Krzysztof Urbański, Christopher Warren-Green and Antoni Wit. Performing regularly in concerto and recital appearances, Lukas has performed at Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Casa da Musica in Porto, Carnegie Hall in New York, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Konzerthaus and Philharmonie in Berlin, Konzerthaus in Vienna, La Cite in Paris, Opera House in Sydney, Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, Royal Festival Hall and Wigmore Hall in London, Rudolfinum in Prague, Sala São Paulo in São Paulo, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Symphony Center in Chicago, Teatro Municipal in Santiago de Chile, Tonhalle in Zurich, Victoria Hall in Singapore and in major cites throughout Europe, America, Asia, Australia and Africa. Lukas has been the guest artist at major music festivals and concert series including BBC Belfast, Dvorak Prague, Gilmore, Heidelberger Frühling, La Roque d'Antheron, London International Piano Series, Medici Concerts Brisbane, Piano aux Jacobins, Prague Spring, Ravinia, Singapore International Piano Festival and Boston Celebrity Series. Born in Opava, Czech Republic, Lukas Vondracek's musical ability was spotted at the age of two by his parents, both professional pianists. He gave his first concert at the age of 4, first international tour at the age of 10, and made his New York debut at Carnegie Hall's Issac Stern Auditorium at the age of 16. He moved to the U.S. in 2009 and received an Artist Diploma from Boston's New England Conservatory of Music, where he studied with Hung-Kuan Chen. Now 29, he has visited more than 40 countries giving in excess of 1000 concerts. First prize winner at the Hilton Head, San Marino and UNISA international piano competitions, Lukas is also recipient of the Raymond E.Buck Jury Discretionary Award at the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition and the Hanno R.
