About this concert
Remember you must die, but seize the day. For centuries, November 2 has been All Souls’ Day in the Western Christian tradition, a day to remember those who have passed away. To honour this tradition, The Bachvereniging presents a programme brimming with hope, featuring music by those who came before Bach and his kin. Harpsichordist and organist Bart Naessens takes a deep dive into the German Baroque, with stunning interpretations of music by Johann Michael Bach, Johann Christoph Bach, and Heinrich Schütz. Music that reflects on the fleeting nature of life (memento mori), but also brings a positive message (carpe diem). Knowing that dying is inevitable; seize the day.
