fen Biography
There is more than one artist with this name.
1. (from the UK): The sound of thousands of dead, ancient spirits that scream across landscapes of eternal bleakness. There is no life and no hope here...
The Watcher - Vocals, Guitar, Keyboards
Grungyn - Bass
Draughlin - Keyboards, Ambiance
Theutus - Drums
Until December of 2008, Monolith did Vocals, Guitar, and Keyboard.
2. (from Canada): a Freudian-esque phantasmagoric acid crash into the subconscious.
In the last decade, Fen has released three albums. The debut recording, Surgical Transfusion of Molting Sensory Reflections, identified Fen as “the only band of its kind on the coast” (The Nerve Magazine), perhaps due to its nauseating rhythms and cranial song forms. A concept album followed, set in an isolated estuary. Entitled Heron Leg, this album left listeners both wondering and disturbed, and has been called “one of those great CDs the listener can get into more and more deeply” (Discorder Magazine). The latest from Fen, Congenital Fixation, has drawn comparisons from Opeth to System of a Down. It features drum guru Randall Stoll (KD Lang, Tom Cochrane), and on bass, Mike Young from The Devin Townsend Band.
Presently, Fen is evolving in a direction embellished by piano and strings. Trails Out Of Gloom, the next album, will be out in 2009.
