THIS SHOW IS STRICTLY 18+PLAYING TIMES: HALF/CUT 9.30PM 'TIL 10.10PMGUSH 8.30PMWATER SIGNS 7.30PMFREE ENTRY | $20 CHICKEN & EGGPLANT PARMAS | $10 PINTS OF MOUNTAIN GOATKick those Monday blues to the curb at Social Sanctuary – your weekly night of free live music at NSC. We've lined up a stellar roster of your fave local artists and some exciting new talents breezing through town! This week half/cut, GUSH + Water Signs are stopping by for a show.pretentious and semi-dormant - like a lesser-known volcano, perhaps - half/cut followed their much delayed and at least mildly anticipated 2021 sophomore album “salt an atlas” by… disappearing for a while. oops. now based between three cities in two states, rumours of their demise were defied by a one-off reunion performance for 2023’s “echo bravo” festival in Naarm. unable to help themselves, for better or worse, they are now one of those bands that endures beyond distance and circumstance.GUSH are a 4 piece band from Naarm, mixing the heavyweight guitar music of the 90s with emo‘s melodic sensibilities. GUSH have forged their sound through triumphant fuzzed-out guitar, melodic bass lines, huge hooks, and odd song structures. Fitting into the current Australian underground rock scene, GUSH exhibits a fresh take on modern shoegaze while maintaining a lineage to Smashing Pumpkins, Swervedriver and Dinosaur Jnr.Water Signs is a Naarm-based band with Genevieve Callaghan on vocals and percussion, and Byron Meyer on electric guitar. While primarily focused towards song writing, they have a strong interest in sound as a vehicle for expanded, meditative states. Their music frequently enters passages of drone, ambient or field-like arrangements, with improvisation, spontaneous interdependence and response being key elements. Water Signs' recently released their first EP—New Names At Midnight.Social Sanctuary is proud to be sponsored by Mountain Goat. Our show is being held on the lands of the Wurundjeri People and we wish to acknowledge them as the Traditional Owners of this land we are gathered on. We also pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and Aboriginal Elders of other communities that may join us for our show.Northcote Social Club strives to create a safe space that everyone can enjoy.Crowd surfing & dangerous behaviour will result in removal from the venue.Full conditions of entry | Accessibility Info
