Scott Strickland Biography
“It might be the best video, and song, to come out of Austin in the first half of 2022”, Peter Blackstock wrote as he praised the opening track of Scott’s debut album “L.A.” writing for one of the only two print newspapers in the “Live Music Capital of the World”. Hailing from Houston, TX, by way of Nacogdoches, TX, the accidental musician Scott Strickland now calls Austin his home after residing in the great state’s capital for more than 9 years.
After transitions from retail to teaching filmmaking at three colleges from Waco to San Antonio, Scott found himself laid off as a result of the pandemic. He used this moment as an opportunity, forcing himself to get extremely creative with how he pursued this second lease on life, music, and his newly-found relationship with God. A season of hard-fledged, messy introspection led Scott to chase the kind of music that connects truth, music, and the soul in the kind of way that can only be raw, honest, and vulnerable. Not pretending. Not accusing. As a result, he stripped down his Rock/Pop sound and regrounded the arrangement with a more folk-centered approach, getting back to basics with lush string arrangements to compliment his bright, colorful, and airy sound.
Now, having collaborated with some of the greatest artists in Austin in one of the greatest spaces in the city, Scott is very proud to announce his most ambitious project yet - Strings Attached: The 1500 Sessions.
