Melissa Endean Biography

Born and raised in a small town British Columbia, Melissa Endean grew up surrounded by country and bluegrass music. She began performing early, singing alongside her grandfather, an accomplished musician in his own right, who once performed with the legendary Johnny Cash. To date, Melissa has released 2 full length albums which have received world-wide radio play. Her 2009 single “Let it Go” topped Eastern Canadian music charts for 6 successive weeks, peaking in the #2 position. In 2010, Melissa was invited to perform as a headlining act at the Winter Olympic Games in Whistler, BC, where she performed for an international audience of more than 10,000 spectators. Just a few short months later, she was invited to open for the Grammy-Award Winner Imogen Heap at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC. Most recently, Melissa was chosen as one of the top 20 for this years highly competitive and Canada renowned ‘Peak Performance Project’ from The Peak 102.7. Melissa’s love of music extends beyond the limelight. In 2012, Melissa travelled to rural Thailand, where she volunteered in a children’s home, sharing her lifelong passion of music and learning with refugee children from Burma. As if that wasn’t enough to keep this rising star busy, earlier this year, Melissa was invited to record remakes of Johnny Cash hits in a new, indie rock style, at the renowned Cash Cabin Studios in Hendersonville, TN with Grammy-award winning producer, Chuck Turner. This world famous studio, built by the late Johnny Cash and currently owned and operated by his son, has seen many incredible artists cross over its threshold, including Loretta Lynn, Emmy Lou Harris, Tanya Tucker, June Carter, and of course, the Man in Black himself, Johnny Cash. Melissa will be including one of Cash tracks on her third full-length album, to be recorded with producer Mike Southworth (Hilary Grist, Scatterheart, Warren Dean Flandez). Lesbian indie-pop artist from Vancouver, BC who prides herself on writing songs about the ladies, for the ladies!
