As high schoolers they cleared out a stable to use as a rehearsal space for their new band, named after one of Henry’s family farm working dogs. With Henry on drums and David on guitar/vox, it was truly humble beginnings.Nowadays, Old Mervs are considered one of the most exciting rock acts in Australia. Breakout singles ‘Cellphone’ (2020), ‘Where I Go’ (2022), and ‘Sweetheart’ (2023) have been streamed in the millions; while their second EP, Give It Up (2023), debuted at #2 on the ARIA Australian Albums chart; and in January ‘Sweetheart’ landed at #47 in the 2023 triple j Hottest 100.The duo has supported huge international artists, including Liam Gallagher and The Wombats, as well as local heroes Spacey Jane and King Stingray.
