About this concert
Program: Anton Bruckner, Mis in E minor ; Frederik Neyrinck, New work. Credits: I Solisti, Vlaams Radiokoor, Bart Van Reyn (conductor), Maud Vanhauwaert (script). What will the world of tomorrow look like? What is the role of faith today? How do we find purpose? These are hot-potato topics now that our future is facing threats from all directions. The wind players of I Solisti, regular guests at the Muziekgebouw, join forces with the Flemish Radio Choir to present a programme on contemporary issues. In addition to the compellingly majestic Mass in E Minor by Anton Bruckner – a man of profound faith – new work will be premiered by Frederik Neyrinck, artist in residence at I Solisti. The script is by poet Maud Vanhauwaert, ensuring a powerful and engaging experience. For this project, the makers have interviewed 14-year-olds from different cultures about their ideas and ideals. How do they see the future? What do they want to live for? What do they believe in? Based on these conversations, Maud Vanhauwaert has written her script. Neyrinck, a Belgian-born composer who now lives in Vienna, creates music that is deeply influenced by the city’s rich musical tradition. This makes him the ideal composer for this feast-for-the-senses double bill, which also features projected images.
