Serafia Biography
L.A. based Country & Americana artist, Serafia proves that the Wild West is here to stay and the Roots of American music is still the foundation. Towering at 6’3” in boots, Serafia (pronounced sah-RAH-fee-yah) brilliantly fuses the intricacies of americana, blues, folk, country, and gospel into her unique musical sound. Vocally, her distinctive rich texture and surgical delivery, plus 4 octave range, give her an unmistakable and chill inducing sound.
Born in a small town in Northern Iowa, she was adopted & age 3, her father a preacher, her mother Filipino scientist, and her fellow adopted Korean brother, moved out West to a small rural community outside the famous farm & rodeo town of Salinas, Ca
Serafia credits her multi ethnic upbringing to her ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
Considered a vocal prodigy as a child by her music teachers, Serafia had perfect pitch & an ear for music that spanned far beyond her youth. In her late teens, she moved to Austin, Texas and began her career as a musician & worked many odds jobs to keep herself afloat including back up singing for The Chainsmokers, a Bud Light and Jager girl and illegal poker waitress.
Serafia is a 2024 grant recipient of Rissi Palmer's Color Me Country Grant Fund supporting country artists of color all over the US. In 2023, she went on tour with Nashville’s The Black Opry--A musical collective highlighting black musicians in country, americana and folk.
