About this concert
Under The Rug, the Austin, Texas-based indie outfit, has crafted a unique, heart-on-sleeve musical journey over their decade-long career. Led by the dynamic trio of vocalist and guitarist Casey Dayan, alongside the deft musicianship of guitarist Sean Campbell and drummer Brendan McQueeney, the band seamlessly blends an eclectic mix of indie, folk, and Americana, all while remaining steadfast in their commitment to the art of storytelling. Known for their DIY marketing efforts, the band has built a fierce and dedicated fan base through direct-to-fan handwritten letters and their membership service, The Secret Hideout. Their dedication to songwriting as a craft is evident, delivering earnest tracks that resonate with listeners worldwide. Whether performing at sold-out shows or writing on the go in their beat-up van, the band continues to resonate with fans, capturing both hearts and imaginations. Under The Rug has garnered cheers from American Songwriter, Rolling Stone India, Atwood Magazine, and even received a co-sign from The Mountain Goats John Darnielle. Building on the success of their acclaimed Junior LP, Homesick For Another World, and the viral sensation of their hit single, Lonesome and Madwhich topped Spotifys search charts in the US and continues to dominate virality playlists in numerous other countriesUnder The Rug is set to sustain their momentum. The band eagerly anticipates their upcoming release, happiness is easy, and is preparing for their headlining US tour in support.Under The Rugs upcoming release, happiness is easy, is a sprawling 2-part, 30-track exploration of the challenges of pursuing happiness, delivered with the bands signature irreverence, irony, and dark humor. Produced with the help of David Peters, and featuring co-writers like Sam Hollander (Panic! At the Disco, Fitz and the Tantrums) and Mason Jennings, the album blends poignant personal themes with universal questions on life and fulfillment. With songs like lead single mad girls love song, an interpretation of Sylvia Plaths famed villanelle, title track happiness is easy, and i dont want to cry in my car anymore, each offering a tongue-in-cheek look into the headspace of lyricist Dayan, the album navigates topics such as self-discovery, authenticity, drug use, and loneliness, while providing moments of levity and insight. Dayan wrote happiness is easy as a reflection on coming to terms with identity and the pursuit of joy in a complicated world. Its the least fictional thing Ive written, she reveals. The album is filled with gentle arpeggios, evocative lyrics, and piercing guitar melodies that reveal the bands growth and commitment to authenticity. Its not just a meditation on personal struggles but also a search for meaning and connection in the modern age. Under The Rug will head out on their headlining North American tour in late August - find the dates HERE.

Under The Rug Biography

Since forming over a decade ago, Austin, TX trio Under the Rug have cut their teeth as songwriters and engineers, writing and recording dozens of projects, amassing a dedicated fanbase, garnering praise from major publications like American Songwriter, Rolling Stone, Glide, Under The Radar, Atwood, Americana UK and from independent tastemaker blogs including Mystic Sons, Two Story Melody, Comeherefloyd, LA On Lock and more, and a co-sign from The Mountain Goats’ John Darnielle: "Friends, this music is really good."

Their 2023 "Homesick For Another World" album is comprised of their most popular and powerful tunes to date, amassing a boastful 9M streams of their debut single LONESOME AND MAD

Lead singer, songwriter and guitarist Casey Dayan, guitarist Sean Campbell and drummer Brendan McQueeney have taken a fanatical and steadfast approach to DIY marketing, which has helped grow the band’s audience exponentially since their 2019 debut album Pale King.

With their sophomore LP Dear Adeline, this band grossed over $100,000 within the first month of their CD campaign, and have since received hundreds of thousands of comments from a fierce fanbase on social media, including 300 members from their own home-brewed membership service, The Secret Hideout.

Coming off the success of their Junior LP “Homesick For Another World”, Under The Rug plans to hit the pavement hard this year in celebration of the record and the recent viral buzz surrounding the hit single “Lonesome and Mad” - which was the top searched song in the US for 48 hours on Spotify and #1 on Spotify's VIRAL 50 chart for 10 days straight in the U.S. and a few other other countries

Packing a decade’s worth of friendship and songwriting in a beat-up van, Under the Rug’s on-the-go work ethic has yielded expansive records written on the road to Los Angeles brimming with hope and hard-won truths from the heart. They're a band that believes putting the work in manifests success. Look for them on their FALL 2023 TOUR with guests Guantanamo Bay Surf Club and Social Animals (Solo)
