Cait Macklon Biography
Growing up never having one place to call home, singer-songwriter Cait Macklon's personal journey inspires the delicate foundations of her authentic musical style. Originally from Scotland, she has lived in no fewer than five different countries in her twenty years. Repeatedly uprooted from one settled life to the next, music became her only constant, a way of turning her many experiences into stories of knowing oneself, heartbreak, growth and despite everything - learning to keep moving forward.
Introduced to the likes of Eva Cassidy, Norah Jones and John Mayer at a young age undoubtedly paved the way for her now Americana-infused style. "My Dad was in a band when he was about my age, so growing up, he was constantly playing music around me and my two brothers. I always got little keyboards or toy instruments as presents, and when my mum read us stories, she'd always make up a song to go with them." Cait tells of her childhood memories with music. From the age of seven, she was already singing and had begun to experiment with the piano. Disliking the structure of lessons, however, Cait decided to take matters into her own hands and teach herself; having more creative freedom and playing only what inspired her most. With a passion for story-telling and classic songwriting, she has now developed her own body of timeless works. Illustrative lyrics concealed in contemplation establish Cait's breathtakingly poetic view of her relationship with reality.
"Finding comfort within music is invaluable to anyone in such an ever-changing and manic world," says Cait. Her hope is that others can connect with her stories, discovering their own place of solace within the vulnerability of her music.
In January of this year, Cait released her debut single 'Magazine'. Magazine harnesses the emotional turmoil of falling in love with an endlessly enticing facade. An effortless portrayal of her take on modern romance.
"I have never seen such bliss in a nightmare / You colour every dream / It's like a movie scene"
Summer of 2020 awaits the release of more new material from Cait Macklon, captured between the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London and yellow DOG Studios in Texas.
