About this concert
Sparta Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their Debut Album ‘Wiretap Scars’ in Australia!SPARTA formed from the ashes of seminal rockers AT THE DRIVE-IN who disbanded in 2001. Released in 2002 to huge praise from postpunk and hardcore audiences, their debut album ‘Wiretap Scars’ filled the gap left by their former group and won over the harshest critics. The album features the single “Cut Your Ribbon” and epic live favourites “Air” and “Collapse”.The album served as a reminder of how important Jim Ward’s backing vocals were to the sound of At the Drive-In. Previously known as a side man, SPARTA gave him the kudos to bring his voice and ideas to the fore – creating incredible records like WIRETAP SCARS.“Wiretap Scars echoes the reckless beauty of the trio's former band”“The thunderous vocals of Jim Ward mixed with that beefed up guitar sound push Sparta closer to the fault line”“Their first album Wiretap Scars bears all the traces of classic ATDI — razor-sharp guitar slashes, aggressively churning punk grooves and emotional lung-shredding vocals — along with darker textures, quieter passages, smoother performances, and slower tempos”

Gyroscope Biography
There are two bands with the name Gyroscope.
The first is a post-grunge rock band from Perth, Western Australia. Gyroscope started as Gyroscope Sunday in Perth in 1997 with Daniel Sanders on guitar/vocals, Zoran Trivic on guitar/vocals, Brad Campbell on bass/vocals and Rob Nassif on drums. They recorded their first demo cassette in 1998 and took up playing regularly on the Perth live circuit whilst also finding time for work and school commitments.
Their debut album Sound Shattering Sound, was released on June 14, 2004.
Their second album, Are You Involved? was released on 25th, 2005.
Their third album, Breed Obsession was released on March 8th, 2008. It debuted at number 1 on the Australian ARIA album chart.
One factoid for Are You Involved? is that Rob used the same snare Dave Grohl used during the recording of Nirvana's mainstream debut album Nevermind for the gyroscope track Fast Girl.
The second is a psychedelic jazz outfit from Quebec Canada.
