WHITE STONES Biography
The White Stones, whose musical genius is led by none other than OPETH bassist Martín Mendéz, return with a haunting new song: “La Ira”. This gripping track is an impressive first glimpse into their upcoming third studio album entitled “Memoria Viva”, scheduled for release on June 28, 2024 via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM).
“‘La Ira' is a song reflecting on the power that greed has over our minds,” explains Martín Mendéz. “It is a wake-up call to the decisions that impact humanity and life itself. The awakening of “La Ira” (the anger) refers to our instinctive reaction to life-changing bad ideas, that affect humanity.
The technological advances, resources and tools that already exist today could easily make this world a better place for everyone if simply the will for it was there. It's a song of hope. The hope that we start making decisions for the betterment of the world we live in."
The tracklist of “Memoria Viva” includes an eclectic selection of songs that highlight the band’s versatility and innovative talent:
Memoria Viva
Humanoid
D-Generacion
Zamba de Orun
La Ira
Somos
Grito al silencio
Vencedores Vencidos
Yemaya
Recording for “Memoria Viva” took place at the renowned Farm Of Sounds Studios in Barcelona, Spain, with Gerard Porqueres from Heartwork Recording Studios responsible for the mix and mastering.
Martín Mendéz highlights: “Making an album in Spanish is something that I wanted to do for a long time. We tried it out with our second record 'Dancing Into Oblivion,' but at the time we couldn't convince ourselves that it worked on that album. This time we did and I feel very proud of the result.”
Eloi Boucherie, the charismatic singer of White Stones, adds: "One of the most notable aspects of this new album, apart from not setting any creative limits musically, has been the challenge of having proposed to sing in the Spanish language. It has been a very exciting experience and we believe we have found a new way to continue giving something new to the White Stones sound, and make this musical proposal something more unique.”
The White Stones not only crossed musical boundaries, but also took an emotional journey through Martín Mendéz's childhood and youth, as he reveals: “The name White Stones comes from the place in Montevideo, Uruguay, where I grew up. This connection to my hometown has accompanied and inspired me throughout my life.”
Fans now have the opportunity to pre-order the album. The album is available as a Digipak-CD, as well as a sepia marbled vinyl LP. Alternatively, “Memoria Viva” can be pre-saved on all streaming platforms to get immediate access to “La Ira”:https://whitestones.rpm.link/memoriavivaPR
