About this concert
Les Twentyman was a remarkable social activist who devoted his life to serving at-risk and vulnerable young people, particularly in Melbourne’s western suburbs, until his passing on March 30, 2024, at the age of 76.  Over the years his work through the Les Twentyman Foundation has positively impacted the lives of many thousands of young Victorians and their families.  The foundation, established by Les nearly four decades ago, is dedicated to providing early intervention services to young people who are at risk of falling out of their schooling and coming to the attention of law enforcement and the juvenile justice system. The Foundation does this by focusing on reintegrating these young people back into their schooling or opening up employment pathways. This is done through the Foundation’s Back to School program, our in-school youth worker program, our Outreach program and our 96ers basketball club.  Despite Les's recent passing, the Foundation that bears his name remains fully committed to protecting his legacy and continuing to deliver on his vision of a better life for young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.  Les was one of Australia's most respected youth workers, known for empowering young Australians and advocating for social justice. Raised in Melbourne's western suburbs, he received many awards including Victorian of the Year and an Order of Australia Medal (1994) for his dedication.  With decades of street-level experience, Les became a recognised expert on issues such as youth homelessness, drug abuse, prison reform, youth justice and social welfare. He was a trusted advocate and media voice whose views and solutions were often called upon.  A regular columnist for the Herald Sun, Les also appeared in documentaries like 'The Ohio Gun Buyback Scheme' and 'LA Gangs'. His autobiographical book, 'The Mouth That Roared' chronicled his journey from near-death experiences to youth advocacy and became a bestseller.  Les was a true voice for the voiceless, continually shedding light on emerging youth issues.  You can learn more about Les and the foundation's programs at ltfoundation.com.au and you can show your support for young people in need by donating today via the QR code provided.

Nothing Biography

People often wonder why Philadelphia's NOTHING are so damn loud. In the case of many artists, the volume stems from a preoccupation with negativity, misanthropy and the human condition, drawn from the band's own personal experiences. In the case of NOTHING, that volume, rather than a selling point, is the only way the band has been able to translate the difficulty of real-life into musical form.
