About this concert
“Hazel Miller is not just a great singer – she is a force of nature.” –Rocky Mountain News A main stay in the annual Sounds Exciting lineup, Hazel Miller & The Collective have been delivering electrifying performances at the amphitheater for over a decade. Hazel was first noticed in her hometown of Louisville, Kentucky where she sang backup vocals for Al Green. She landed in Denver in 1984 when her family’s U-Haul broke down during a move out to Los Angeles. Lucky for us, she never left. Throughout her 54 year music career, Hazel has performed at the White House for Bill Clinton, opened for music icons including James Brown and James Taylor and earned herself a spot in the Colorado Music Hall of Fame. About the opener: Hand-picked by Hazel to open this year’s performance, Jack Hadley is a self-taught guitarist and singer/songwriter from Denver. Most notably, he performed as Otis Taylor’s lead guitarist, playing festivals and shows all over the USA, Canada and United Kingdom. Throughout his career, Hadley has recorded songs with Steve McQuarry and performed live on the BBC in London. Recently, Jack received an endowment grant from the Boulder County Arts Alliance to record new music with The St. Louis Blues All-Stars which will be released this month!
