About this concert
"Los Mocochetes moves audiences with its lyrics of revolution-rock and its booty-shaking Latin grooves, mixing Spanish and English to remind us that – except for the indigenous – we are all immigrants and we all have the responsibility to love and accept each other and ourselves and fight for justice." –105.5 The Colorado Sound With deep roots from the Mora Valley in northern Nuevo Mexico and to the south from Juarez, MX, Los Mocochetes are a Xicano funk band from Denver. By combining elements of cumbia, reggae, hip-hop, rock, funk and more, the group composes music to unite the gente and create revolutionary music you can dance to. Every performance draws on the elements, the directions, the ancestors and the great mystery. Each song is a prayer meant to make the feet move, stir the spirit and resurface the memory of the innate ability to heal ourselves and the generations before and after us. Aho. Mitákuye Oyás'iŋ. Ōmeteōtl. Aṣẹ. About the opener: Denver’s very own alternative-pop artist, this broken beat, is a highly versatile & eclectic group. Influenced by a wide-range of genres & music styles, this broken beats’s engaging live presence has led them to perform with various national acts including The Unlikely Candidates, Badflower, David Crowder and others. They continue to rack up air time on Denver’s most prominent alternative station Clear Channel KTLC 93.3, and their debut 13-song LP record, “What’s On Your Mind?” was featured in Denver’s Westword and 5280 Magazine.
