Set in the beautiful Worcestershire riverside town of Upton upon Severn, Upton Blues Festival has grown from a small event in 2002 in just a couple of pubs with only 19 gigs into a festival that fills the town with many thousands of music fans, two main stages, an acoustic stage and thirteen pub venues creating over 160 free performances in 2019 over three days! The idea for the first Upton Blues Festival was formed on the balcony of Ye Olde Anchor Inn by the then landlord Stewart McEwan and one of the festival founders Richard (Dick) Tippen, whilst watching the annual Upton Jazz Festival parade pass by. Why not start a Blues Festival in Upton they both said? And that ladies & gentlemen is how it all began.
