About this concert
On Saturday May 25, two of the most engaging live bands in Oz The Maggie Pills and The Stripp launch their 7inch split vinyl with their new singles GOLD and GOTTA GO, brought by tuffcuffrecords at The Bridge Hotel in Djarrah/Castlemaine. Maintaining the visceral and kaleidoscopic sound of their debut album, The Maggie Pills present GOLD, a recognition of the value that each of us can bring about with authenticity and chaotic expression, and how this talent is often overshadowed by the more conventional creators. The song invites everyone to dance frantically and to let our beautiful chaos come out without impositions or conditions. Turbo charged rock n roll machine THE STRIPP are carving their own unique chapter in Australia rich sonic history. Unleashing a rapid-fire barrage of high-voltage guitars and bulldozer riffs, the band's unique heavy style, captivating live shows and extensive touring has gained them a reputation as one of Australia's finest, high-energy rock n roll bands. Their new single GOTTA GO stays true to their unique, fast paced, dirty Motorhead tinged rock n roll style, kicking it up a notch with a contagiously hypnotic riff and catchy power pop chorus.

The Maggie Pills Biography

Led by Argentinian front woman Delfi Sorondo and Venezuelan drummer Mario Perez, The Maggie Pills are a fierce outfit who embody the spirit of the Indie/Alternative movement and the urgency of Punk, with an intense and magnetic live performance.

Founded in late 2019, the ferocious act began a month after Delfi and Mario came to Australia and has always come before expectations and routine.

Their lyrics are stories, speaking to universal truths we all connect to, enriched by and spoken from diverse experiences and cultural backgrounds. They talk about discrimination, sexism, destruction of land and the displacement of the rightful owners while channelling themes of kindness, friendship, emotional struggles, grief and loss.

Their catalogue includes two EPs, several singles and a massive debut double album titled “Hope is Risk”. Self-produced by Perez, the album was nominated by Music Victoria for ‘Best Heavy Work’ as part of the Music Victoria Awards 2023 and by the Australian Music Prize as one of the best Australian albums released in 2023.

On May 10th 2024 the band will release their new single ‘GOLD’ with a clip filmed in Santiago de Chile by Venezuelan visual director Diego Homez, and will be launched in a Victorian tour.

The band also started to record their Sophomore album expected to be released in early 2025.
