Maria Uzor Biography
Maria Uzor is a mutant-electronic artist and singer.
Merging the spirits of electro, avant-pop, and techno, and adding the groove of African-Caribbean syncopation, Uzor brings it together with sugar/sour vocals, delivering her own perspective in today’s electronic music scene.
The half Barbadian, half Nigerian artist was inspired by a wide range of genres growing up in Norwich; from punk and psychedelia, to hip-hop, dancehall and garage.
She cut her teeth as singer/guitarist in punk band The Incidentals, then morphed into blues-tinged electronica as Girl In A Thunderbolt, before forming the dance-punk duo Sink Ya Teeth in 2015.
Maria self-released 3 EPs during lockdown before teaming up with the Castles In Space imprint to release her debut album 'Soft Cuts' in October 2023.
