Dave Wright & The Midnight Ramblers and The Distant South come together for an incredible evening of Bluegrass, Roots and Alt-Country music at the beautiful Wesley Anne.. City born but country raised, when Dave Wright puts pen to paper and pick to guitar strings he knocks out epics and ravers and boozers about girls, cars, Australia, mariticide, Diggers, truckers, sadness, sickness, drunks, heartbroken mothers, angry fathers, desperate sons ... and death. Playing old-time style, gathered around one microphone, Dave Wright & The Midnight Ramblers bring big harmonies, lashings of rolling mandolin and soaring fiddle to Dave Wrights significant back catalogue. Melbourne based alt-country band The Distant South have been building a strong following based on their confessional song writing and captivating live performances. In 2024, the band released their 4 track EP - "Set Me Free", following up on their self-titled debut Album. With heartfelt lyrics and captivating melodies, they delve into themes of love, loss, hope, and the challenges of navigating life's often difficult journey. The band’s music reflects the authentic voice and song writing of Nick Howells and is brought to life through a rich blend of instruments including acoustic guitar, dobro, lap steel, banjo, double bass and drums.

The Distant South Biography
Combining the earthiness of folk, the lament of country and the authenticity of stories that you just know are true, The Distant South have been playing in some of Victoria’s best venues over the last 2 years - honing their sound and their songs to the delight of a growing audience.
The Distant South play stories in song - covering the many elements of the human condition. Love, loss, depression, hope and heartbreak. Songs are written with an authentic voice and brought to life with acoustic guitar, banjo, double bass, drums, violin and soaring harmonies.
2022 saw The Distant South finish recording their debut, self-titled 10 track album with Myles Mumford at Rolling Stock Studios with mastering taken care of by Adam Dempsey at Deluxe. This beautiful collection of songs has been captured on 180g Vinyl - and was launched in April and May of 2023.
Influences on the band include artists such as Sierra Ferrell, liz Stringer, Jason Isbell, Kerryn Fields & Gillian Welch. Acoustic by nature - but never shy to rock out with a Telecaster and a solid backbeat - melody, harmony and emotive lyrics are the artefacts that define the sound of The Distant South.
