About Sorrel Nation
Kent born songstress Sorrel Nation brings a soulful mix of folk/country/rock with powerful vocals and haunting melodies. She engages audiences with her heartfelt, emotive and relatable songwriting and is known for her earthy 1970's inspired style.
Born to sing into a household of eclectic musical influences, Sorrel was first onstage at the age of 10 with a Beatles tribute band in France, at 13 lead singer in a folk/rock band and has now opened for the likes of folk legends Martin Simpson, Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick, as well as John Otway, Tom Hingley, Canadian Vocal Group of the Year Madison Violet, folk-punksters 3 Daft Monkeys, Irish singer Gemma Hayes and the incomparable Jackie Leven.
Sorrel has performed at well known music venues in London and across the UK including The Troubadour, The Bedford, 100 Club and The Little Rabbit Barn. She has recently performed at Glastonbury Festival, Black Deer Festival and and tours the festival circuit over summer with The Magic Teapot music venue.
Sorrel was also featured on the soundtracked exclusive trailer for the DVD release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, singing a haunting version of Winter Wonderland.
Sorrel's first EP (First Sight) was produced and recorded with friend and producer Nigel Lowis (Dina Carroll, Eternal, collaborations with Carole King and Burt Bacharach).
Her second EP (Kids On The Run) was produced by acclaimed British producer Ian Barter (Amy Winehouse, Gabrielle, Paloma Faith).
The latest EP (Walk With Me) was recorded at Doz Recording Studio, produced by Al Drake Brockman and features Sorrel with her full band.
Sorrel plans to release a LIVE solo EP in July 2024, recorded at her hometown venue The Grey Lady in 2023, and her debut album in Autumn 2024.
Writing songs of her time, Sorrel's beguiling voice is very much her own but with influences ranging from Stevie Nicks, Gillian Welch, Bonnie Raitt & Susan Tedeschi.
and yes… Sorrel Nation is her real name.
