About this concert
FREE ENTRY // FRONT BAR // 6-8PM The VAS:The VAS is a relatively new band project with a good mixture of experience and starting out as an acoustic band and currently in the process of going full-band line-up with the addition of Drummer. We play all originals and our music is very melodic and catchy. You'll soon be singing along the songs even though you may never have heard them before. Our music is very broad and versatile and we do folk, pop, blues, indie and rock. The Time Travelers:Keith and John have known each other for, well let’s just say quite a long decade or so. They can trace their histories back to when they were playing in bands around the Melbourne pubs and clubs in the 70’s and 80’s.They finally got together as The Time Travellers not long before the COVID-19 lock down came. Why ‘Time Travellers’? The answer is that both of them have seen a bit of time pass and the songs in their set range from the 60’s through to the present day. You will hear some classics and a few less well-known gems that fit nicely into the set. Both are currently writing and recording original material and have collaborated on a number of projects together and with other musicians. Rachel ParkinsonRachel Parkinson is one of the hottest shows around; entertaining with fabulous songs. She’s currently releasing singles off an album ahead of recorded in Nashville and has played alongside the like of Eric Burdon (The Animals) and loads more.

VAS Biography

Vas (Persian for vessel), based in Los Angeles, USA, is the contemporary ethereal opus of acclaimed vocalist Azam Ali and percussionist Greg Ellis (2001 solo release Kala Rupa).

Native to India (born in Iran), Azam Ali and Ellis met in 1995 and collaborated on four VAS releases. Together, along with Laxmi Shankar and Deepak Ram, can be heard in the end title track by Juno Reactor's Ben Watkins on The Matrix Revolutions score. Ali has also recorded vocal tracks for the 2004 remake of Dawn of the Dead (scored by Tyler Bates) and will appear on the film adaptation of Frank Miller's "300" due out in 2007. Ali has also worked with composer Brian Tyler, performing vocals for the original television soundtrack for the SciFi Channel's 2003 miniseries Children of Dune. Her voice can be heard singing "Inama Nushif" ("She is Eternal") in the fictitious Fremen language.

Related projects and releases:

Ali, Tyler, and Ellis are currently to release an album under the name Roseland featuring Azam singing in English against a more rock/ambient sound.

Niyaz is yet another project Azam sings for, along with members Loga Ramin Torkian from Axiom of Choice and Carmen Rizzo from Ekova. Niyaz have released one album on Six Degrees Records in 2005.

Azam has two solo recordings, Portals of Grace, also on Six Degrees Records, released in 2002, and Elysium For The Brave, released in 2006. This second album is predominantly sung in English and has been said to be Azam Ali's most ambitious album to date.
