Gerardo Ortiz is undoubtedly one of Latin music’s most defining artists of the last decade and his wide recognition stems from the chart-topping success of his albums and back-to-back #1 singles. Ortiz has scored thirteen No. 1s making him the second solo act to have scored the most No. 1’s in the 30-year-old history of Billboard Regional Mexican Airplay chart. The superstar is an online and social media powerhouse– with over 27 Million followers on social media, and an astounding THREE BILLION and counting views on YouTube.
The two-time GRAMMY® nominee and one-time Latin GRAMMY® , is one of the architects of the alternative corrido movement and one of the most award-winning singers of Regional Mexican music in the past years that has amplified Latin music in general.
In recent years, Ortiz has dominated Regional Mexican music by winning a number of prestigious awards including twenty seven Billboard Latin Music Awards, twelve Premios Lo Nuestro, earning thirteen Platinum records and three Gold records as certified by the RIAA, and selling out festivals, dance halls, and arenas across the United States and Mexico. He was recognized to be a “Top Latin Artists” for Billboard's decade chart 2010-2020.
Gerardo has collaborated with great Latin music performers such as Prince Royce, Banda el Recodo, Gente de Zona, Lucero, Natalia Jimenez, Darell, Piso 21, Grupo Marca Registrada, Luis R Conriquez, Aleman, Santa Fe Klan, Eden Muñoz, Oscar Maydon, Los Dos Carnales, Virlan Garcia, Regulo Caro, La Adictiva, among others.
Gerardo Ortiz was born in Pasadena, California, but at the age of 5, he moved with his family to their original hometown of Culiacán, Sinaloa. Over time, he returned to California and released his first studio album titled Ni Hoy Ni Mañana, which achieved great commercial and critical success.
