2024 marks a century since the Hollywood composer’s birth. Edwin Outwater and the BBC Concert Orchestra celebrate Mancini, who is recognised as one of the greatest composers in the history of film music. With his works including the theme tunes to The Pink Panther and Peter Gunn, his style reflects elements of jazz, light classical and more, and he also helped to inspire the genres of lounge music and space-age pop (2 September & filmed for BBC Four).

Henry Mancini Biography
Henry Mancini (April 16, 1924 – June 14, 1994) was an Academy Award-winning American composer, conductor and arranger. He is remembered particularly for being a composer of film and television scores - his best-known works are the jazz-idiom theme to The Pink Panther film series and Moon River. Mancini won a record number of Grammy awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995.
