About this concert
FITZGERALDS SIDEBAR PRESENTS:GERALD DOWD seen HERE w/ Guest Rachel Drew!Mr. Dowd will be hosting a monthly residency in FITZGERALDS SIDEBAR. Its called SONG OF THE MONTH CLUB, and for a damn good reason: each month he and his invited guest will debut one BRAND NEW SONG. among the many other cool things they will do. Youll want to be in the room when it happens.Rachel Drew is a singer-songwriter from Chicago. She grew up in a musical family and is known for her voice and her catchy, self-penned tunes that blend blues, country, pop, folk, and retro soul. Old Sky New is her newest album, recorded with Blaise Barton at Grammy-winning Joyride Studios. It features John Szymanski, Alton Smith, Cathie Van Wert Menard, Michael Krayniak, Jason Batchko, and Chloe F. Orwell. Alan Harrison of The Rocking Magpie writes, Theres something of a hint of Dusty in Memphis, minus the strings here; as Rachel actually has a similar breathy and pearlescent voice that reels you in, and before you know it youre sitting totally engrossed in the offering coming out of the speakers... the arrangements are pure Laurel Canyon at its height when Linda Ronstadt and Mama Cass could do no wrong.FREE SHOW! MORE ON THE DOWD:Gerald Dowd has been described as the hardest working drummer in Chicago (Richard Milne, WXRT), playing on over 100 albums, and averaging 150 live dates a year around the world. In recent years, hes been releasing solo albums of original material, starting with his 2012 release, Kingsize EP. In 2014, he was the recipient of an IAP arts grant from Chicagos Dept. Of Cultural Affairs/Special Events (DCASE), which led to his first full-length solo album, Home Now, produced by Grammy-nominated producer Liam Davis, and featuring, among others, Chicago legends Robbie Fulks and Nora OConnor. To celebrate the release, he held a benefit concert (DAY OF THE DOWD) at which he played for 13 hours straight with 16 different bands, raising over $10,000 for the Greater Chicago Food Depository.__________________________________Grab dinner before the show at BABYGOLD BARBECUE
