About this concert
On a break from the sold out 50th Anniversary Tour, Kansas’ violinist Joe Deninzon and his original band Stratospheerius bring you a night of progressive rock! Performing songs from their latest double CD/DVD-Blu ray, “Behind the Curtain (Live at ProgStock)” as well as music from their upcoming studio album, “Impostor!” Progressive Rock Central’s Angel Romero has described Joe as “Perhaps the finest electric violinist of his generation.” Joe’s bandmates in Stratospheerius are Jason Gianni-drums (The Ultimate Queen Celebration, Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Rock of Ages, Neal Morse Band), Michelangelo Quirinale-guitar (Thrilldriver), Paul Ranieri-bass (Mark Wood, Riot Act), and keyboardist Bill Hubauer (Neal Morse Band).   Special guest, guitarist Tim Motzer recently toured with Stick Men and will be presenting a set of his unique, hipnotic, guitar-driven soundscapes.  “Guitarist Tim Motzer is an eclecticist by nature, a conjurer of immersive and richly textured sonic environments that he can mold to fit a surprising range of contexts.” — THE KEY, WXPN-FM

Stratospheerius Biography

Lead by electric violinist/vocalist Joe Deninzon (www.joedeninzon.com), who has been called “The Jimi Hendrix of the violin,” Stratospheerius has showcased their “frenzied mélange of alt-bluegrass, progressive rock, jazz fusion and funkabilly” throughout the world. The New York-based group has opened for Tim Reynolds, Mickey Hart, and John Scofield, among many others. Their live performances are filled with funky dance grooves, rip-roaring guitar/violin jams, and hooks that mix jazz, funk, rock with Gypsy influences. Stratospheerius was a winner of the John Lennon International Songwriting Competition, and was named "Best Jam Band" in the Musician's Atlas Independent Music Awards. They have been featured in Relix, Downbeat, and Jazziz, among other publications. Their latest release, "Headspace", has been receiving unanimous critical acclaim and radio airplay worldwide. The group has just completed their fifth CD, “The Next World…”, due out in 2012.

“If Bela Fleck and Frank Zappa had a love child in outer space, they might grow up to sound like these guys do.”
