About this concert
Malibu Spacey is proud to announce Good In Small Doses, the Melbourne/Naarm band’s first full-length release. Good In Small Doses, as the title suggests, takes nibbling bites out of 60s and 70s rock and folk, classic pop, garage rock, glam and dreamy psych and is awash with 12 string acoustic guitars, three part harmonies, noodly bass lines and intricate lead guitar breaks. Engineered and mixed by band member Zoran Lasich and mastered by Joe Carra of Crystal Mastering, the album captures the many sides of Malibu Spacey’s first five years and is a fitting send off for the band’s original bassist Nat Richardson. Good In Small Doses is out May 24.To celebrate, you’re invited to join the Space for a very special album launch show at Bergy Bandroom on June 15. Joining Malibu Spacey for this intimate afternoon show will be friends and locals Kelsey Jean & The Bad Health and Curly & The Fringe.Malibu Spacey makes music that’s all jangly 12 string acoustic guitars, intricate lead lines, three-part vocal harmonies and noodly bass grooves. The sound takes pieces of 70s country rock, folk and dreamy indie rock, fitting somewhere in the world of artists like Cass McCombs and Angel Olsen. In 2022, Malibu Spacey released debut four track EP Something To Do In The Desert, produced by Rohan Sforcina at Head Gap and mastered by Joe Carra at Crystal Mastering. 2023 singles Electrocutie, Old Soft Shoe and Danger Danger have received regular airplay across community stations, including PBS, RRR, 2XX and 2ser.
