About this concert
Combining harmonies and an array of instruments, John & Lynne Ward have been making music together for over a decade, playing all over the UK and beyond. The husband and wife duo combine guitar, bodhran, accordion, harmonica, recorder to perform John?s acclaimed songs from his extensive catalogue, together with some well-chosen folk classics. Their performances are entertaining, relaxed, thought-provoking and from the heart, which has earned them a fine reputation and great reviews. John has a formidable reputation as a songwriter and his songs are sung and recorded by other artists. His most recent book & album, ?Congress?, was serialised on BBC radio. ?? powerful songs, fine harmonies, skilled accompaniment and a breathtaking bodhran solo from John.? ? Folk on the Moor, Devon ? .. the hardest thing about writing this review has been trying not to repeat all the superlatives I used up with 2016's Sargasso? -- Fatea ?A gripping narrative and stirring music .. the quality of the writing, music and production is superb? Mike Harding ?John Ward is a poet and a lyricist, a writer and arranger of the top order? ? Great North Festival ? .. when John went off on a bodhran solo it was spectacular ?
