Therése Neaimé Biography

Born in Stockholm, Sweden, Therése, the daughter of a Lebanese father and a Swedish mother, began to dance at the age of 6. Always on stage, doing dance theatre and winning dance contests, it was only a matter of time before singing would complete her stage persona. Therése began her singing career at the age of 15 with the Stockholm East Gospel Choir. Soon after, she started taking singing lessons from world-renowned vocal teacher, Susanna Hultén. In the mid 90s, she toured the world as a background singer and dancer with various international artists. She had appearances in several music videos on MTV and could be seen as a regular dancer on the ever-popular U.S. television show Soul Train. Besides her music, Therése pursued a modelling career and was featured in several Swedish magazines, print ads (Dobber/Levis Jeans, IKEA) and commercials. Her real passion, however, was singing and songwriting. Therése moved to California in 1999 to study at the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles and to further develop her skills as a singer & songwriter. Soon she set up her own band NEAIMÉ and toured the Los Angeles and San Diego club circuit. Because of Therése’s versatility she also had appearances in various episodes with Ben Affleck in the TV-series “Push Nevada” for Touchstone Television, Hollywood. In 2004, Therése was signed as one of five songwriters in top international producer Jorgen Elofsson’s (Britney Spears, Westlife, and Kelly Clarkson) team. Soon after, Therése’s first song “How Could You Leave Me” was featured on the soundtrack of the Swedish movie “Language Of Love”. After turning down offers by record companies and taking the decision to be an independent artist, Therése started her own Record Label FUTURE RECORDS in 2005. Shortly after, a distribution deal with UNIVERSAL MUSIC SWEDEN was signed. Her initial success in Sweden triggered various performances and live concerts as well as appearances on Swedish radio and TV. Therése’s first single “Color Of Love” became one of the most played songs on radio in Sweden, followed by the singles “The Future” and “Keep It Up”, which created an even bigger breakthrough. In May 2005, Neaimé’s fourth single “Not Easy” went straight to No. 1 on the Swedish charts. Therése’s debut album “LIVIN’ ” was released in 2006 on Neaimé’s own record label FUTURE RECORDS in the U.S., Middle East and Sweden, distributed by UNIVERSAL MUSIC. Considered by critics as the “disc of the week”, an album “unique, well written and with big international potential”, “LIVIN’ “ was labeled “top of the line” and “a musical journey through Therese’s life” with her “deep, soulful and unique voice”. In September 2006 Neaimé went on a US-wide promotion tour, represented by the respected music marketing companies Luck Media & Marketing and Jack Ashton Consulting (radio promotion). Dubbed as “magnificent, musical brilliance” by former Billboard Magazine writer Michael Capozzoli Jr, Neaimé started off on a successful note with US radio. Her single “The Future” soon became a radio hit and climbed to an impressive # 13 on the US AC TOP 40 Radio Chart. A licensing deal with FEUDAL MUSIC for a US and Canada release followed soon after. In 2007, interest in Therése and her music in the Middle East grew further after successful promotion tours to Lebanon and Dubai. Following radio interviews and TV appearances, Neaimé’s music, especially her first and second singles “Color Of Love” and “Here To Stay” were given great recognition and were soon playing at radio stations all over Lebanon, Jordan and the UAE. Further strengthening her links to the Middle East and using Dubai as the base to spread her music in the region, Therése has during 2008 and 2009 continued to perform at major events such as DUBAI INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL, WHAT’S ON AWARDS, FOX MOVIES LAUNCH, BUSINESS TRAVELER AWARDS and DIRECT SELLING FESTIVAL and has become a popular guest on live radio shows as well as being featured regularly in lifestyle magazines like HELLO! MAGAZINE, ELLE ORIENT, ARABIAN WOMAN, LIFESTYLE, STAR, INSIDER and WHAT’S ON. In early 2008, the release of Therése’s new hit single “How Could I” meant the final breakthrough in the region, receiving airtime at all major radio stations. Soon after, a music video to the same song was filmed in Dubai by the renowned LIGIST- AND TEMPLE FILM production company which also represent artists such as Madonna, Christina Aguilera, U2 and Pink. During 2008, Therése also performed in Abu Dhabi in separate appearances for H.M. Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden and H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria in front of hundreds of VIP guests. In May 2008, Therése went on a 5-day concert tour to Afghanistan, performing for international and US troops in Kabul and other cities. Considering the adventurous trip “one of her best concert tours ever”, her performances were highly appreciated. Therése returned to arenas in Europe in summer 2008, with opening concerts for the legendary British band SIMPLY RED in Cyprus and Spain, performing in front of 15,000 people. At the beginning of 2009, work on Therése’s second album intensified. She worked with top international producers in Los Angeles, Stockholm and Berlin. Travelling between the US, Europe and the Middle East throughout 2009, Neaimé once again performed at major events and awards ceremonies in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and opened for SIMPLY RED in Stockholm in what critics called “the best Neaimé concert ever”. In June 2009, Therése also had a guest star appearance in Los Angeles in the TV Music Special “Baila – A Celebration of Music and Dance” with world renowned trumpeter and composer/songwriter David Longoria. The show aired on PBS stations all across the US in August 2009. In 2010, Therése signed licensing deals with Warner Music and Suonix Group for the release of her second album. Her single “All I Think About Is You” was released in Europe and the Middle East and received a 3-star rating by Rolling Stone magazine. The music video to the song was filmed in Dubai and received regular airtime on MTV Arabia. It was picked by McDonald’s Germany and other companies for their instore TV-channels. Therése performed her own exclusive shows in Halkidiki/Greece in summer 2010 and in Dubai later that year. She performed at the prestigious What’s On Awards in Dubai, had live appearances on TV and Radio and was again featured prominently in HELLO! Magazine. In February 2011, Therése Neaimé’s latest single “Lovers Lullaby” was initially released in Scandinavia and received immediate and overwhelming response. A music video to the song was filmed and produced by renowned Swedish video director Andes Rune. Also in February 2011, Therése signed a sponsorship agreement to become the Brand Ambassador for Volkswagen Middle East, and has since performed at various Volkswagen VIP corporate events in Doha/Qatar and the UAE. Following intensive studio work in Stockholm throughout the summer 2011, Therése will spend the fall in Dubai, releasing her second album "STRONGER" in mid-October by Music-Master Middle East. She will also be filming a music video to her newest song "Today is a Holiday" and is gearing up for a large number of live performances. Therése is an Ambassador for the Swedish organization “Barncancerföreningen” (Foundation for Children with Cancer). She has been continuously supporting the cause with benefit performances and charity work. To listen to Therése's Music please visit www.neaime.net
