About this concert
Musical maestro Jools Holland and his revered Rhythm & Blues Orchestra are set to join us for an unforgettable evening with some very special guests! Fans will be thrilled to hear that the show will feature the outstanding vocals of Ruby Turner and Louise Marshall, as well as the highly talented Sumudu Jayatilaka. Together with the inimitable musicianship of the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, which features drums from original Squeeze member Gilson Lavis, Jools Holland will be performing tracks spanning his entire solo career. With a catalogue that reaches through decades, prepare to enjoy the greatest boogie-woogie party in town! Getting the party started for Mr Holland, we're thrilled to welcome Elles Bailey and her live band. Award winning Elles Bailey, the smokey voiced, human dynamo has powered her way to the forefront of the British blues and roots scene in recent years. She’s amassed over 30 million streams on Spotify, has played at huge festivals around Europe and has performed alongside Don McLean and Blues Legend Walter Trout. Elles joined Jools Holland at Kew Gardens earlier this year and we can’t wait for them to reunite again in May 2024 at Good Times in Yate, Bristol.

Brilliant as in all of the last 10+ years we've seen Jools and guests pre Christmas. Forum is also a great venue - much nicer than Colston Hall/Beacon.

Jools Holland Biography

Jools Holland OBE DL was born Julian Miles Holland on 24th January 1958 in Blackheath, South East London.

At the age of eight, he could play the piano fluently by ear, and by the time he reached his early teens he was proficient and confident enough to be appearing regularly in many of the pubs in South East London and the East End Docks.

At the age of 15, Jools was introduced to Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford; together they formed Squeeze, and shortly afterwards they were joined by Gilson Lavis (who had already played with, among others, B.B. King, Chuck Berry, and Max Wall) - who still drums with Jools.

'Up The Junction' and 'Cool For Cats' gave Squeeze meteoric success and their popularity rapidly extended to America, where their tour included performances at New York's Madison Square Garden.

In 1987, Jools formed The Jools Holland Big Band - comprising himself and Gilson Lavis. This has gradually metamorphosed into the current 20-piece Jools Holland and his Rhythm & Blues Orchestra, which consists of pianist, organist, drummer, three female vocals, guitar, bass guitar, two tenor saxophones, two alto saxophones, baritone saxophone, three trumpets, and four trombones.

Jools and the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra play to audiences in excess of 300,000 each year.
