About this concert

The Silencers Biography

There are three recorded bands with this name.

1. The Silencers from United Kingdom have existed since the late 1980s. They were formed from the ashes of the 1980s band Fingerprintz.

The Silencers began their career with the 1987 album A Letter from St Paul. Although they had a couple of hits in their early career, the band were not rewarded with commercial success until the Scottish Tourist Board featured their version of the traditional song Wild Mountain Thyme, a hit which surprised everyone concerned and featured Jimme's daughter Aura

The band were dropped from their RCA/BMG in 1996 and Jimme realised it was an opportunity for experimenting with The Silencers classic sound, Aura joined full time and Milla joined on fiddle, allowing JImme to rediscover the bands celtic roots.

Since then, there have been three studio albums, Receiving '99, Come 2003 and a brand new album due in 2023 - SILENT HIGHWAY - the band have continued touring since 2004 with the same line up which includes Jimme's two sons; James & Conor O'Neill and while they are happy to play through the extensive back catalogue, they are also excited by the new material they'll soon get to share.
